Did you just buy some new furniture? Furniture assembly can be a nightmare if you don't have the patience or the know how.
Its not just IKEA furniture that needs to be put together, many furniture companies are going the build it yourself route.
Buying Furniture that needs to be assembled is usually a money saver, but it comes at a cost. That cost is the time and frustration of putting it all together and doing it right. Here are a few of my furniture assembly tips for you if you decide to be brave.
-Clear out a big work space. This is obviously the first step, because you can't go back if you make a huge mess and no where to put anything. Skip this step and you will almost guaranteed have space problems.
-Be Neat and tidy. Unpack all your boxes and packaging and put all like pieces in piles together. Get rid of all the packaging, get it far away from you, this stuff tends to get in your way really fast so take it all away.
-Inventory. Before you dive in make totally sure you have all necessary parts and hardware, This can save you a huge headache later down the road. If its something simple you can run to the hardware store for various nuts and bolts, if you wait until you need it, it they could be closed.
-Read Through The Instructions Completely Before Starting. Wrapping your mind around the whole project will clarify the individual instructions and help to make sense of it all.
-Follow the Instructions EXACTLY AND IN ORDER! All the other tips were just to make things easier on you, but this is an absolute must. You can build yourself into a lot of problems by skipping around or just feeling it out. Start at the start.
In conclusion furniture assembly can be very rewarding and a good healthy brain puzzle, but if you are not up to it or don't have the time I would absolutely love to take care of it for you. I have assembled countless pieces of furniture as a handyman and I am one of those wackos that actually enjoys it. If you just bought some furniture I will happily come and assemble it for you. I live right here in Bend, but I also service Redmond, Sisters, and Sunriver too.
